The Headingley Carnegie Stadium have just purchased a Tourtalk system to provide audio description of matches to blind and partially sighted fans.
Headingley Carnegie Stadium is the home of the (2015 triple champions) Leeds Rhinos rugby league team. The stadium has a capacity of 17,500 and is also the home of Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union team.
The Tourtalk system transmitter is fed with a signal from the local hospital radio that provides live commentaries of home fixtures.
Blind and partially sighted fans are issued with a wireless receiver and earphone before the match. The user can then adjust their personal volume and keep up with the action. The transmitter and receivers are recharged in a dedicated charger transport case.
