Tourtalk Simultaneous Interpretation Systems

A Tourtalk simultaneous interpretation system is ideal for use in portable applications as it can be set-up within minutes of arriving at a venue.

With a wide range of accessories available, the systems can be configured to suit many applications.

Tourtalk system indoor lecture with language interpretation example

Simultaneous interpretation at an international conference

Each interpreter wears a headset connected to a Tourtalk stationary transmitter (each set to a unique channel). The headset enables the interpreter to monitor the floor language (via the headphones) and speak simultaneously into the stationary transmitter (via the boom microphone).

For each delegate to hear the translated message in their language, they simply plug-in a single earphone or headphones into a Tourtalk receiver and select the appropriate channel. They can then adjust their volume to a comfortable level without disturbing other delegates.

Portable chargers that are built into transport cases provide protection and storage of the transmitter and receivers between events. The transport cases are small enough to be carried as hand luggage onto aircraft, making it ideal for interpreters who travel internationally.

Tourtalk system indoor guided tour with language interpretation example

Simultaneous interpretation on a tour

The tour guide and the interpreter each use a microphone connected to a Tourtalk transmitter set to different channels.

Each member of the tour simply connects a single earphone to a Tourtalk receiver and selects the appropriate channel. They can choose to either hear the tour guide or (if a foreign visitor) the interpreter.

As the system is completely wireless, the tour group is free to walk around the entire facility, indoors and outdoors. Headsets with hearing protection are available for factory tours with simultaneous interpretation.

Simultaneous interpretation for a church

Each interpreter has a headband microphone connected to a Tourtalk transmitter (each set to a unique channel). Each interpreter listens to the preacher (floor language) and whispers the translated message.

For each member of the congregation to hear the translated message in their language, they simply plug in a single earphone or headphones into a Tourtalk receiver and select the appropriate channel. They can then adjust their volume to a comfortable level without disturbing others.

As each interpreter can whisper into their headband microphone, interpreter’s booths are not necessary. If a portable charger case is purchased, the system can easily be moved to different rooms or even off site.

Simultaneous interpretation when social distancing in a court

A Tourtalk two-way simultaneous interpretation system can be used when an interpreter is unable to be near a limited English speaker in a court. The interpreter is issued with a transmitter and single ear headset and the limited English speaker is issued with a receiver and earphone. The limited English speaker can speak back to the interpreter if they have any questions or they want the interpreter to repeat what was said. The system is also ideal for an intermediary to communicate with a vulnerable person.

Systems can be supplied as a package or configured to suit each application.

A range of simultaneous interpretation system packages are available.
